Medical Adviser / Medical Director; Germany

We are seeking an experienced Physician for the position of Medical Adviser / Medical Director for Germany. You will take personal responsibility for developing and executing local elements of the Medical Affairs strategic plan in Germany for a new Haematology product due for launch later in 2010. You will also manage medical affairs activities for the total portfolio of specialty hospital products and biosimilars, working in close partnership with Sales & Marketing colleagues to maximise brand value in the German market.

You will identify and develop Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) in Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia, as well as influential regulatory authority and government contacts in order to successfully deliver medical affairs plans and activities in Germany. This will include implementation of local scientific publication and communication strategies, phase IV clinical study initiatives and management of the pricing and reimbursement environment and named patient compassionate supply programme prior to product launch.

You should be a fully qualified Physician registered in Germany, with post-registration clinical experience and first-hand knowledge of both Haematology and Oncology. This should ideally have been gained through a combination of clinical practice and pharmaceutical industry experience.

Candidates with previous leadership experience in industry may be considered for a Medical Director appointment, with line management responsibility for a team of 3 Medical Affairs staff and a leading role in managing the pricing and reimbursement environment for the wider product portfolio in the German market. Candidates seeking their first industry position will also be considered at the Medical Adviser level. You must have strong communication skills including professional level competence in English and German, with proven ability to build relationships with KOL level physicians. An awareness of the principles of relevant regulations for the promotion of drugs in Germany is also required.
