Reporting to the Global Head of Development Operations and located in Shanghai, China. The position requires someone to build and lead a Development Operations organisation based on the hub in Shanghai to run studies in Asia Pacific, in support of the clients' growth strategy for Asia Pacific.
Summary of key responsibilities
Ensure the effective delivery of all Clinical Operations activities in Asia-Pacific
Build the Study Management capability in Asia Pacific and develop the Country Management organization in China and in Asia Pacific to support the regional and global activity
Integrate the Shanghai organization into the overall global Development Operations structure and processes
Effectively implement functional excellence strategies in Study Management and Country Management and align standards, training etc with the rest of the organization
As a member of the Pharmaceutical Development Asia-Pacific Leadership Team cooperate to develop and drive the regional strategy for PD
Actively manage internal and external stakeholders
Provide leadership and line management to their reports and other members of the department across multiple locations
Manage resource allocation to meet business needs
Identify future needs for resource and identify, recruit, train, develop and retain high calibre talent
Ensure the performance of employees is proactively managed and they are coached, trained and developed in order to maximize their contribution
Ensure that staff communication and employee relations are managed proactively to maximise the well being of the employees
Act as a role model and actively install the companies' values in the team and their activities
Responsible for increased productivity and efficiency of Clinical Study Management Function and its members.
Work experience & abilities required
Considerable experience of global drug development
Has a broad understanding of the different areas and issues in Clinical Operations and has significant experience of running projects and programmes
Has led a function within Clinical Operations
Good stakeholder management skills and the ability to create good relationships with other parts of the business and external partners
Practical experience of developing and managing significant budgets.

Able to lead a large team spread regionally and operate through other managers
Demonstrated strategic conceptual and analytical thinking skills
Has a talent mindset; recruits, develops and coaches the team and individuals to improve performance
Good communication and presentation skills
Continually looking to improve and to deliver extra value for patients
Challenges conventional thinking and approaches
Bachelors in a Scientific, Medical or Healthcare discipline required. A further degree (PhD, MBA, MD) would be advantageous
Fluent in verbal and written English with Chinese language skills.
